Love To Hydrate

LoveToHydrate

Mental clarity, focus, memory and creativity are all linked to proper hydration. Our brain cells need water to function optimally. Dehydration can cause our brain cells to be less efficient. Once dehydrated, we experience brain fatigue, headaches, sleeping problems and may be more prone to anger. I want to share some beautiful ways to guzzle the recommended 64 ounces of water daily.

First I’d like to point out that I recently visited a naturopathic doctor who shared with me that plastic isn’t good for you. Who knew? Before my visit, I was definitely contributing to plastic waste because I bought cases of water weekly. I reviewed the following six bottles so that you can choose the right one for you. Alright here we go, 1) BKR — I own this beautiful bottle. And what I like most about this bottle is the beautiful design and the size (1L). Once I fill her up, I only have to refill once to meet the recommended 64 ounces. Also, I recently had my composite dental fillings removed and replaced with porcelain fillings, which are quite sensitive to cold/hot and so the BKR bottle is good for those that like room temperature water. The only downside is this sucker is heavy! 2) Bobble — So this little lady has a carbon filter, which filters your water as you drink. How cool?! And she holds 34 ounces of water — this bottle is plastic, which makes it lighter to carry, but it’s BPA free — none of the bad stuff here. 3) Swell — Alright, this was my first fancy bottle purchase. I like this gorgeous stainless steel beauty because I love to make hot water w/ lavender, mint and lemon in the mornings and this bottle keeps hots HOT for 12 hours and colds COLD for 24 hours. 4) Starbucks Heart Cup — How cute?! Just a cute on-the-go option for a detox water mixture (hot water, lemon, lavender, mint) is my fave. 5) Life Factory — this bottle is great for water, smoothies, juices, etc. And what’s fun is you can see how much you have left. I use this bottle for smoothies, but it’s another fun option for hydration. And finally, 6) Aqua Zinger — this bottle is for those of you who don’t care for the taste of water, you can infuse your water with fruit/vegetables and just like that…you have portable spa water! Ha, love it. And just so you know, some of these bottles are much cheaper  in other colors — I thought it would be fun to show you the pink since it’s the month of LOVE. Whatever you choose, H-Y-D-R-A-T-E!!!!

A Colorful Christmas Brunch

01

Christmas mornings are some of my favorite childhood memories. Our house was usually filled throughout the entire day with neighbors, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends that were like family. My grandparents would drive down from Rocky Mount, Virginia and Detroit, Michigan. My dad would have Vanessa Williams’ version of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” blaring through the speakers, although it was most likely a balmy 65 degrees in Houston. An aroma of coffee, country ham and fried apples would seep into my bedroom. Christmas morning breakfast was such a cheerful time.

Now that I’m older, it’s all about brunch. No one’s waking up at the crack of dawn to open presents. After playing Santa all night, we’re all about mid-morning mimosas and coffee.
